Spirit Dreams
~~~~~~~~~~~
In Spirit, in our thoughts, in our dreams we can drift, we can float, we can go wherever
we wish to be. We can be whatever we desire. We are of the Earth, we are of nature, we are of the Soul, we are of the Spirit,
of the Great Spirit, Grandfather. We are of the womb of Mother Earth, of Mother Nature. We can dream, we can drift, we can
float in our conscious mind or as we sleep. We can be the thunder, we can be the lightning. We can be a rock, a blade of grass,
a tree. We can be a drop of water, a snowflake, a grain of sand on the desert. A great buffalo of many moons ago in the company
of thousands and thousands of our like, of our kind, to thunder across the prairies with no fear of danger maybe at times
to give our life to one who is in need of our meat, of the covering of our bodies for a blanket. To roam and to dance upon
the grasses of the prairie. To be of long ago one with the Earth, one with other creatures of the Great Spirit, of the creations.
We can be a bear, a grizzly roaming through the mountains, through the forest with no
care, no worries. We come upon another creation of Grandfather’s, of the living flesh, we raise our paw high above our
head in an acknowledgment and say to that other creature, O'Si'Yo, hello, welcome. We can eat of the berries, we can be at
peace in slumber when the winter wind howls, we can be a wolf with our family, the pack, our mate, our offspring from our
very loins. We can walk high on a hill and talk to the full moon, we can talk to our brothers and sisters on mountains and
valleys far away. We can be with our children and teach them the ways of our life, teach them to live in harmony with one
another. We can be a blade of grass, we can be a bush, we can be a rock, we can be a tree, we can be a eagle flying high above
the Earth, soaring high in the Heavens above the very world that we live in, above the highest peak, above the highest tree,
above the highest mountain looking up at the blue of the sky, down to fresh waters flowing down the mountains, the lakes,
the pools, the ponds, beautiful trees in which we have our nest, our home. We look about and see the beauty of what we have
been given, the beauty of nature, the beauty of Mother Earth. We soar back to our nest in which our children are waiting for
a morsel that we brought back to them for nourishment. We can be a raindrop, we can be a snowflake, we can be a panther high
on a boulder, high in a tree, outstretched on a large branch. We can see the softness of the Earth below us, the beauty, the
wonders of nature. We can hear the ripples of the waters, we can feel the warmth of the rock, we can feel the coolness of
the moss, we can feel the breeze on our fur. We can be a grain of sand in the desert, we can be a cloud high in the heavens
that brings moisture down to Earth. The raindrops that fall to Earth to give each blade of grass, each plant, each tree, the
drink of nourishment that it needs to grow and become beautiful.
This is Grandfathers world, we are the Great Spirits creations. We have the wonders that
abound us to appreciate. Our lives are full, our lives are happy, our minds are appreciative, our hearts are thankful and
our Spirits float, float to wherever we wish and our Spirits be whatever we wish to be. We can be a fish in the fast moving
waters of the streams, of the rivers or we can lie in the gentle pools, the eddies, the ponds to feel the cool water across
our skin, to take in the freshness of the water as it comes from the snow pack high above us. From the mountains, from the
winter, from the winter rains, the winter snow that furnishes the water in which we live. As a creature that walks upon the
Earth we are thankful for the clean air, the pure air that we breathe, the freedom of walking about unviolated without fear
of ourselves, our lives, our pelts, our family, our children. We walk about Mother Earth in whatever form we wish our Spirit
to be. We do not have to close our eyes, we do not have to be in a state of unconscious thought, we can leave our eyes open
and drift and dream. We can ride as in the winds, we can feel the wind rushing past us in any form, we can see the beauty
that abounds us, of our environment. We as a Spirit can drift to the highest mountain peak, to the highest tree tip reaching
into the Heavens. We can be in the desert, we can be on the plains.
We can be in the Heavenly Village, in the Heavenly Lodge. We can feel our presence in Heavenly Council,
we can feel the warmth of the Sacred Fire, we can sit with Grandfather, the Great Spirit. We can be among the Holy Men, the
Medicine Men, the Great Warriors who have gone before us. We can feel the warmth of the fire, can smell the aroma of the oak,
we can inhale the scent of sage, we can sit or stand in reverence, in ceremony. We can go to the top of the highest peak and
reach out our arms and stretch forth our hands and touch the Heavens. We can dream and drift and float, be a free Spirit that
we alone have the ability to do and to go and to be. We can see a beautiful sunset in midday, we can see a beautiful sunrise
in the dark of night, we can be with the full moon, we can be with the stars as they shine like flicks of silver against black
sand. Our days, our nights, all of our time here on this beautiful Earth can be spent in appreciation, in thought, not of
idleness of what we do not have because we are not void of anything, we are enriched with all that is sacred and wonderful
and beautiful. We are given nourishment, we are given air to breathe, water to drink. All we have to do to let our minds,
our Souls, our Spirits be free, be free as the sounds of nature that drift about, to be free as the creatures that walk beside
of us in the light of day or nocturnally in the dark of night. It is not the cold of the winter or the heat of the summer
that discomforts us but the lack of appreciation. Dream, drift, float, let your Soul, you Spirit be of this Earth, be of nature
itself. We are not put upon this Earth as individuals, we are part of a very delicate balance of nature, we are a part of
all creations, we are of the ground, we are of the waters, we are of the sky, the air.
