Spirit World
~~~~~~~~~~~
The Great Spirit, Grandfather takes nothing from us, whatever he takes from us whether
it be a tree or a creature of the air, of the ground, of the waters, of the forest, of the mountains, of the desert, whether
it be an animal creature or a human creature, whether it be something or someone that we love there are only so many souls,
so many spirits, so many heartbeats to go around. When he takes something from us he always replaces it with something fresh
and something new. Look into the Heavens each night you will see a new star, look into the yard, look into the meadows, breathe
the air, look at the water, look at each feather. Each time you hear the flute, each time you hear the drum beat, each time
you hear a new baby cry.
Sometimes Grandfather is in need of a new young heart or a new young soul or spirit. Sometimes
when an older creation of his, a tree or an animal needs to be replenished with nourishment from our bodies we should feel
honored to be called to the other side for our soul, for our spirit or the red ink of our heart or the beat of our heart to
be used again to nourish something. All we have to do is to look around, all we have to do is to listen, we see the grass,
we see the trees, we see the birds, we see the fish, the animals, the human people even the people that we feel have no worth
upon this Earth. Somewhere inside these people must be some good, somewhere within these people Grandfather must feel that
they deserve one more chance or maybe even two more chances. When we go to the other side or when we have a loved one go to
the other side we should not weep, we should know, we should feel that someone or something is going to be returned to us
in one way or the other, in the winds, in the sands, in the thunder, in the call of the birds.
The animals that walk beside of us, the human people that give us love, companionship,
the beat of the drum, the heartbeat in our rituals, in our ceremonials, in our dances are gifts from our Grandfather.
We will all be taken when Grandfather has need of us, our soul, our spirit, the red ink
from our heart, our very heartbeat. We need new grass upon the prairies, each one of us could come back as a snowflake as
there are no two snowflakes alike same as there are no two peoples alike. Each snowflake has its purpose either for our enjoyment
or the nourishment of the lands, the shifting sands to make the breezes upon the lands, upon the waters, to make the tides.
The same with the ones that we love, they are not ours they are only gifts from the Heavens and from the Spirits to love and
to enjoy for whatever length of time we are blessed with them. Yes, we all have a purpose, our souls, our spirits, the red
ink from our very inward being, our heartbeats are recycled into new living creatures and creations of the Earth.
Grandfather does not take without giving back, Grandfather knows, the Great Spirit knows
how lonely we become when we lose something that is within our heart but look, look each day how many souls, how many spirits,
how many heartbeats, young, old, of middle age, the tall, the short which is only physical goes into the Heavenly Lodge and
the Heavenly Council decides what they are to be recycled into. If the prairies need grass, if the desert needs a grain of
sand, if the air needs a breathe of wind or a breeze, if the tides need an extra wave, if the rains need an extra drop in
order in move the Earth down the normal dry beds to bring nourishment down through the lands on which his creatures, all of
us, all of his creatures nourish, breathe, drink and enjoy the nourishment of the plants and of the creatures that he has
put on the Earth. When the wood of a tree is taken to make the body of the drum, when the skin, the hide of an animal is taken
for the covering of that drum inside that drum is a cavity, there is a hollowness that needs to be fulfilled. It needs a heart,
it needs a heartbeat, it needs a soul, it needs a spirit. The wood of the body of the drum needs to be replenished with the
blood of life, the skin or hide, the covering of the drum as on ourselves, it is the red ink, the fluid that only another
living thing can provide to be recycled.
Each animal creature, each tiny egg of the bird, each tiny bird of all the creatures of
the Universe, of the world needs all these things that only another living thing can provide. We feel angry at times because
our young ones are taken from us, as we say without a chance for life. Look into the Heavens you will see a star, look on
the ground, into the meadow you will see a blade of grass, listen you will hear a breeze and in that breeze is the Spirit
of that young one that we have lost, even the old have a purpose in the Heavenly Lodge, the Heavenly Lodge.
Grandfather recycles the old to give to the new as the leaves in Autumn turn their colors
and appear to die and have no life. They fall to Earth to give the ground and all that, that falls and feeds upon the ground
and in the ground a nourishment. The leaves are not dead, the leaves are only being recycled. Grandfather the Great Spirit
was in the recycling business long, long before humans ever thought of it. We should not be angry with Grandfather for taking
something that is his, it has only been lent to us, only on loan to us to love and to enjoy for whatever time we have with
whatever it is until he needs it back. An animal creature of good health, flowers, birds, fish, rocks, have a life, rocks
have feelings, rocks have internal life. We are no different but we think we have feelings, we think we have sorrow, we think
we are alone in these things. We are only a part of this world, a part of this delicate world that has to remain in balance.
I do not believe that Grandfather means sadness, means us to weep, to bring us sorrow
if we just remember forever and always Grandfather is with us. He walks beside of us, all he asks is for us to understand
his way as we ask of others, to understand each and every one of our ways. There are many times that our ways have been established
for our convenience but Grandfather has a purpose, Grandfather has a purpose for every one of his ways from every pebble,
grain of sand to the mighty boulder, every breeze, every soft gentle breeze to a violet wind. Something needs to be moved
about, the blade of grass to the tallest tree that reaches its peak to the Heavens, from the smallest, the smallest creature
to the largest animal. Every human whether we see good or bad has a purpose on this Earth maybe not on this Earth, maybe we
can not identify it but Grandfather although we may not be able to see it has given each one a soul, a Spirit, red ink from
within a heartbeat. We may look at it today and say what is its value but tomorrow, tomorrow we may see something beautiful,
something worthy, something worthwhile. Somewhere, somewhere on this planet there has been what we would consider a useless
human being or creature that has gone to the other side. Grandfather has returned that soul, that Spirit, that red ink, that
heartbeat to us as something useful.
When we lose a loved one whether it be of human form or whether it be a creature of this
Earth, Grandfather is in the recycling business, lets don't look at it sadly, lets look for that new star in the Heavens.
Look for that new blade of grass, that new blossom in the tree, that new little bird pecking its way out of an egg, the birth
of a desert or forest or mountain creature. We will see good, we will see a Blessing. Look past
"The Grave"
Look towards the new creations of
"Grandfather"
